Life of a Shepherd in Banat, the center of Vojvodina
Loneliness is everlasting
Once upon a time, in the distant plains...
Starting from a few words where we leave the time and space of the real world, and enter the marvelous world of fairy tales.
Where the shepherd falls in love with the princess and live happily ever after.
This story begins differently in the real world away from the world of imagination and happiness.
At the spot where once in Banat thousands of sheep grazed the land, now remaines one lonely Pap Károly that keeps a small herd of sheep. Eight months a year he keeps sheep on pasture, with the help of four dogs that keep him company. He lives in a mobile home of a few meters tha is just big enough to fit a bed and a small stove. Looking at the flat landscape where for miles there is nothing,He lives alone. There is a friend that visits him once in a while. Just a few decades back in our country, there was a saying:"Who keeps sheep, will have money". Nowadays no one wants to keep the sheep, because it is considered a humiliating job. Károly is a good-hearted man who devoted his life to this craft, and made a commitment to eternal solitude and loneliness that is very similar to eternal darkness.
